New year. New project.

JUST A FEW SECONDS, participation project for a new artwork

New artwork for art collection The Hague University of Applied Sciences

The Hague University will soon be enriched with a new work of art. It’s going to be a very cool, brand new work, in a conspicuous place. With the project JUST A FEW SECONDS, from September 6th till September 25th, we will be seeking out the initial inspiration for this work of art, namely, the students’ vision of their future.

From September 6th to 25th, we will be looking for inspiration for this work of art: students’ vision of their future. We start with the question ‘show us how you feel’. Students can upload a photo that shows their mood to https://moodboard.kunstcollectie-hhs.nl (see image). In the hall of the main building five screens will show this online mood board.
From September 13th till 17th we will set up a studio where students can by photographed by artist Johan Nieuwenhuize in exchange for a quote about their future.
From September 20th till 25th toilet cubicles will be standing in the square, where students can share their thoughts anonymously.

You can see the results of these actions in the You and the Future exhibition from November 7th Oct till November 5th 2021 in the “Exporuimte”. Artists are invited to submit an idea sketch based on this exhibition. The three artists with the best idea receive an assignment for a more elaborate design sketch. These designs will be exhibited in the exhibtion Your Vote for New Art in the Atrium from January 20th to February 11th 2022. Everyone can then vote for the work that will eventually be executed.

This project is organized by the Art Committee and The Lighthouse in collaboration with Johan Nieuwenhuize, artist and art advisor, Jennefer Verbeek, social designer and Jurriaan van Kranendonk, founder of the hhs art collection and art advisor.
